It’s great to talk about making a difference in the world, but it’s another thing to actually do it. “Shouldn’t volunteering be a rational decision, not based on an emotion like feeling inspired?” you might ask. "You know... it's good to do things even when we don't feel motivation." Yes… and no. Even when you’re committed to volunteering long-term, it can be a struggle to keep a good attitude about it all the time. It gets tiring, and without taking proper care of yourself, you can find yourself getting burned out.
The best thing about attitude, though, is that you have a lot of control over it through what environment you make for yourself. If you want to influence your attitude so you can impact the people around you, one great way to do that is music. Instead of listening to music you feel like you’re in the mood for… try listening to music that fits the mood you want to be in.It works for me a lot of the time. So, without further ado… here are seven songs that help me get into the right mindset to focus on other people.
Action point: Instead of waiting for the inspiration to pop up to help other people, make yourself the environment which will affect your mood! Purpose: Rejuvenating your mind so you can launch yourself into volunteering with fresh vigor
